Temple Closure Due to Coronavirus - Mar 12, 2020

March 12, 2020

Dear Friends,

In an effort to limit exposure to the Coronavirus, the Mt Shasta Goddess Temple will be closed to visitors until April 3, 2020. During this time, I will still be available for divinations, candle services, and consultations, and our online classes and ceremonies will continue without interruption. I made the decision to close the physical temple for the next few weeks based on what other dharma centres and spiritual facilities across the country are doing, and based on guidance offered by many different epidemiologists who are publishing articles and being interviewed at this time.

On April 3, based on the best recommendations I can find for my local area and the state of California, I’ll make a determination about when we will open the Temple doors again.

I’m sensitive to the fact that we have a diverse membership in the Temple, and that some are at greater risk while others are at less risk of serious consequences if they contract the Covid-19 virus. For those who still want to visit the Temple, I recommend that you go spend some time with the Kuan Yin statue in our Art Alley behind the shop. And for those who are isolating at home or socially distancing, I recommend attending our online ceremonies if you would like to have beautiful, sacred communion with other women, without the risk of illness.

This past Saturday I offered Tara Ritrö Loma Jönma practice online via Facebook Live. We chanted to the 20th of the 21 Taras, who is especially dedicated to dispelling contagious disease. You can watch the replay here, if you’d like. I plan to do it again each Saturday at noon, at least through the end of the month and possibly longer.

For those who are staying home and in personal or family retreat at this time: Now is an excellent opportunity for us to tend our homes and altars, to plant spring gardens, study dharma teachings, practice meditation, and offer ourselves the gift of self care. We encourage our Temple members and online community to remain calm, informed, and compassionate toward all, especially those who are fearful or suffering. May all beings be happy, healthy, and well.

Blessings of wellness to all,
Yeshe
