February 22, 2025
10am - 1pm Pacific
Explore the ancient power of vision in See No Evil: A Mythic History of the Eye. Throughout history, cultures around the world have revered the eye as a source of protection, wisdom, and divine strength. From the fierce look of the Egyptian god Horus to Medusa’s arresting gaze to the far-seeing eye of Odin, these myths teach us how sight holds magical power over enemies, protects those who are vulnerable, and reveals truths hidden from the ordinary world.
In this class, we’ll explore the eye as a symbol in mythologies from Egypt, Greece, Norse lands, Celtic traditions, Hindu lore, the Middle East, and Aztec culture. We will examine the eye’s role in prophecy, its connection to the gods, and its function as a force of cosmic balance. These stories carry profound significance, showing how the eye is not only a physical organ but a gateway to higher understanding and deeper spiritual insight.
Whether you are drawn to ancient wisdom, curious about the mythic traditions of the eye as a symbol, or interested in how the eye has been seen as a mystical protector, this class invites you to perceive the world in new ways. Together, we will uncover the timeless power of these myths and explore what they can teach us about vision, perception, and the unseen-yet-perceived forces that shape our lives.
Students will receive a bundle of items to support their work with the energies of the Eye, including:
-Bottle of Visionary Medicine tincture to support all 3 of your eyes
-Vial of See No Evil Protection Oil

In See No Evil, we will take a look at some of the most intriguing myths that center around the eye, and how they offer insights into the role of perception in both magic and spiritual practice.
One of the most striking examples comes from Egyptian mythology, where the Eye of Ra and the Eye of Horus are actually goddesses. The Eye of Ra is personified as fierce goddesses Sekhmet & Hathor, who act as protectors and avengers for the sun god. The Eye of Horus, meanwhile, is linked to the goddess Wadjet and serves as a symbol of healing, justice, and divine insight. Working with these myths reminds us that vision is an active force, tied to powerful feminine energies that protect, destroy, heal, and restore. These goddesses show us that perception is never passive—it’s a way of engaging directly with the Mystery.
In the Norse tradition, Odin sacrifices one of his eyes in exchange for a drink from Mimir’s well of magical waters, gaining access to the knowledge of the cosmos. Odin teaches us that true understanding often requires sacrifice—giving up surface-level perceptions to access deeper truths. By meditating on Odin’s sacrifice, we are invited to think about what we must release in order to see the world more clearly and tap into the well of spiritual insight that lies beyond everyday vision. The act of seeing in this way becomes a magical practice, where perception itself is transformed into a tool for inner growth.
We will also explore the story of the Graeae from Greek mythology—three sisters who share a single eye. This myth shows us how the power of sight can be concentrated and shared, and serves as a reminder that some truths cannot be borne alone - they must be held in community witness. By working with this story, we can explore how collaboration and shared perception can help us navigate difficult paths and protect what is hidden and sacred.
These are only a few of the myths we will investigate in detail to help us understand the power of the eye. These stories offer age-old wisdom and practical ways to think about how and what we see, both in the magical sense and in our spiritual lives. Through these stories, we learn that perception is not passive—it is an active, powerful force that shapes our experience of the world and our relationship with the divine.
